Why Cover Crops?

Cover crops are herbaceous plants established for seasonal cover and conservation purposes.  Properly grown, they can support one or more of the following benefits: reduced erosion; increase soil organic matter; manage excess nutrients in the soil profile; fix nitrogen reducing fertilizer rates; increase biodiversity on the landscape; suppress weeds and provide supplemental forage.
