Water Star Wisconsin: A tool for municipalitites
Wisconsin Water Star launched on April 22, 2010 to guide, inspire and recognize municipalities who are doing exemplary work in all areas of municipal life that touch water including land use planning, stormewater management, public works, parks and public lands, wastewater treatment, public water supply, emergency management and community and business education and incentives. The heart of the Water Star Program is the 400+ actions in 17 categories.
Municipalities can earn a bronze, silver or gold Water Star status based on their score, which is derived from the percentage of total available points. At the end of 2010 eighteen municipalities had gained Water Star status including six gold, three silver and nine bronze.
Participants will learn about the Water Star program, hints on filling in the on-line application, and how to submit success stories of projects that have worked on and how to apply for Water Star status.
